Harmful drinking behaviour often affects family members and friends but children of alcoholics tend to be the most vulnerable. Children and extended family members can become codependent on a loved one’s alcohol abuse and can be significantly affected. In general, children of individuals who abuse alcohol are four times more likely to abuse alcohol themselves.
