Could you spare a few hours a week to help at our lovely local bookshop?

Days and times: Tue – Sat, 10am-4pm

Main activities:

• Providing customer service on the shop floor, dealing with questions and queries, taking payment and general upkeep
• Restocking books from the back store onto the shop floors shelves, making sure to rotate and bring new stock onto floor
• Dealing with donations, making sure to follow the correct donations guidelines
  Using the shop’s guidelines to sort and price donated books
• Opportunity to get involved in selling books online sold at the best possible price
• Identify and value collectible items

Main activities:

• Repairing raised beds, construction of compost bins.
• General clearing and weeding.
• A chance for people to get involved in a new project and see it grow.
• Also preparing beds for planting and sowing of herbs and vegetables as well as flowers.
• There will also be opportunities to create wildlife areas, log piles, bug and bee hotels.

Desirable qualities:

• A passion for horticulture and gardening
  Enjoy working in an outdoor situation
  To be reasonably physically fit (garden tasks can be physically demanding)

The Schizophrenia Peer Support Group is a well-established group where members meet once a week for coffee and a chat. You’ll be volunteering alongside a member of staff, listening to and talking with members about whatever they want to talk about on the day.

Days & Times: Thursday 2-3 pm

Desirable qualities:

• A good listener
• Approachable and able to communicate well with people from diverse backgrounds
• An understanding of mental health

We’re looking for volunteers who can offer a couple of hours a week, once or twice a month to support our listening service. If you have time available to volunteer on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening, we’d love to hear from you. We are also looking for volunteers to support us with community fundraising and hosting our social gatherings.

It’s always good to hear from anyone who’d like to help, so get in touch and talk about how else you might be able to get involved.

Where can I volunteer?

Volunteers for our listening service usually volunteer remotely, though there also opportunities to base yourself in our office in Woking.

Outside of the listening service, volunteers also support us with admin, events and fundraising at a number of locations in Surrey. Our social gatherings will take part around the county and we need volunteers that are available in various places around Surrey.
