Yvonne Rees joins Catalyst Support as Chair of Trustees

Catalyst Support is delighted to welcome Yvonne Rees as our new Chair of Trustees. Yvonne brings a wealth of experience from her extensive career in local governments across Surrey and the wider South East. Her professional journey working at various levels of the local government, including a series of executive positions at the district and county levels, give her a deep understanding of both local and National policy and the role the Chairty sector plays in supporting all residents.

Yvonne has seen first-hand how the local government serves as a safety net for those in need, and how over the years increasing financial pressures pushed eligibility thresholds up, leaving more people in a position where they need to look for support elsewhere. Local charities are often the organisation who are there to provide this specialist support.

Yvonne’s passion lies in fostering collaboration between public sector organisations—government bodies, healthcare services, emergency responders, and charities—ensuring that those in need receive joined-up care and assistance.

She says:

“I believe no single organisation can meet the growing needs of vulnerable people alone; collaboration and open communication are key to providing the right support. My focus will be on strengthening partnerships and ensuring that those who need help can access it without barriers.”

Throughout her career, Yvonne worked closely with the Police, local councils, and blue light services, addressing critical issues such as domestic abuse, drug and alcohol support, and safeguarding. She appreciates our charity’s work, and the vital services we provide.

Beyond her professional commitments, Yvonne leads a busy life. She holds a sports degree, enjoys all things equestrian, and has a keen interest in gardening—an activity she sees as a valuable way to unwind and take ‘Yvonne time’. She enjoys spending time with her two dogs and openly admits she has an unhealthy obsession with cacti and succulents. Yvonne already serves on the board of Surrey Football Association promoting physical and mental wellbeing. She says: “I strongly believe that activities such as sport, music, and the arts play a crucial role in mental health support.”

Yvonne sees her new role as a pivotal point in her career, offering an opportunity to use her expertise in a different way and give back to the community she calls home.

We are delighted to have Yvonne on board and look forward to the positive impact she will bring to our charity and the wider community. Welcome, Yvonne!
