In preparation for the Mental Health Awareness Week Community Connections have launched a variety of new groups and courses to offer our community a variety of options to come together, discuss what matters, spend time in nature and resolve any difficulties with the help and support of others.

Mindfulness Hour, Tuesday 3rd Jun – Tuesday 15th July (6-week course), from 1:30-2:30pm, Woking
This group will start with a check in with 3 words on how you are currently feeling and then undertake a guided mindfulness meditation and then will check out with 1 word. Will have the opportunity to have a drink and time to refocus.
What you need: Comfortable, warm clothes, pillow and/or blanket (optional)
This is not a place to discuss mental health. A group for relaxation and reflection
6 sessions will focus on the following topics:
- Tension and stress
- Clear your mind
- Self-compassion
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Acceptance and letting go
- Being present
2 hours in Nature, Fridays 10-30-12.30, Farnham (bi-weekly group, continuous)
This group will start with relaxation, breathing and standing yoga. Each week we will wander through different natural areas of Farnham, Farnham Park and the river, taking in our surroundings, looking for things we don’t usually see, stepping out of our everyday lives for a while to reset. We will finish with a drink and chat. This group is for all levels, and we leave the meeting point promptly at 10.30.
Coping Skills Course, Monday 2nd June – Monday 21st July (8-week course), Addlestone, 1.30-3.30pm
This group is aimed at individuals with mild to moderate difficulties managing emotions. It is a structured group designed for individuals who wish to develop coping strategies to better manage their mental health and wellbeing. Members are invited to explore ways to cope through a mixture of group discussions and focused activities and will decide what topics or themes are explored during the group (activities and exercises are not predetermined and will be tailored to the needs of the group).
Please note this group is not suitable for clients who are in acute crisis or needing individual/personalised support.
Online Chair Yoga, Thursday 5th June – Thursday 10th July (6-week course), 5.30-6.15pm
The group will be a relaxing 45-minute online chair yoga class suitable for all bodies and abilities! Connecting to the body and breath through slow, mindful movement.
The participants will need is a quiet space and a sturdy chair, doesn’t matter if the chair has arms, we can modify poses where needed.
Gaming Retreat, Monday 3:30-5pm, Addlestone
This group is for young adults 16-23 years old. A social group which provides a friendly and supportive space for like-minded people to meet, socialise and play games together.
Meet at a tabletop game café, which offers hot and cold drinks as well as hot food for a cost with a library of over 300 board games to use!
Mood & Food, Wednesday 11-12pm, bi-weekly, online
This group is for individuals who want to explore the relationship between making healthier food choices to improve mental and physical wellbeing.
Financial Wellbeing , last Thursday of the month, 11am-12pm
Are financial worries affecting your wellbeing? Are stress and anxiety impacting your ability to manage your finances? We can help.
Our free Financial and Wellbeing Support drop in combines expert benefits and money advice from Citizens Advice Surrey Heath and specialist wellbeing support from Catalyst Support.
Our aim is to:
- Provide a safe space to discuss your wellbeing and financial concerns
- How to manage debts and bills more effectively in a non-judgmental environment
- Advice around benefits, grants or other services
- Reduce your stress and anxiety
- You may be signposted to further support where appropriate
Young Persons Support Group, Fridays bi-weekly, 4-5pm
This group is for young individuals aged 16-23, a peer-support group to discuss mental health challenges with individuals experiencing similar situations. It is a chance to talk to and connect with others who understand.
LGBTQ (6-week course), online, Thursday 5th June – Thursday 10th July,11.30am-12.30pm.
