About Shifa Network

Our Background

Shifa Network has been around since 2003. We initially began as a social / drop-in group for women who were living with long term mental health issues and had nowhere to turn for help. It wasn’t long until Shifa realised that its service users had more unmet needs and needed more than just drop-in support.

After carrying out an informal survey and consultation with those who attended, Shifa began offering life-long learning opportunities and courses such as ESOL. This helped women regain their confidence and self-esteem to better deal with the difficulties they were facing. We have, since come a long way and now offer a range of services from peer support groups, educational short courses, creative and physical activities, one to one support and signposting advice. The continued significant demand for our services is testament to the real need for specialised support to meet the needs of these communities.

What we do

Shifa Network's purpose is to empower women and those with mental and emotional health issues integrate into mainstream society with improved self-confidence and raised self-esteem. We provide a safe and secure place where women can socialize and access support without feeling stigmatised. Shifa also supports immigrant women suffering from domestic abuse, anxiety and depression.

Great Social Environment
